Collection: Skincare for Porous Skin
1. Cleansing:
- Gentle Cleansers: Wash your face morning and evening with a gentle, non-foaming cleanser. Harsh soaps and sulfate-containing cleansers can dry out the skin and lead to increased sebum production, making pores appear more prominent.
2. Toner:
- Pore-Refining Toners: Alcohol-free toners containing glycolic acid (AHA) or horse chestnut extract, rosemary, or myrtle leaf help to tighten the appearance of pores and balance excess oil on the skin.
3. Serum:
- Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) Serums: Help to balance sebum production, tighten the appearance of pores, and strengthen the skin barrier.
- Salicylic Acid (BHA) Serums: Penetrate pores to clear blockages and prevent blackhead/whitehead formation.
- Retinol Serums: Can improve the appearance of pores by accelerating cell renewal and supporting collagen production. However, gradually incorporate retinol into your routine and always use sunscreen during the day.
- Hyaluronic Acid Serums: Can help the skin look plumper and pores appear less noticeable by increasing the skin's moisture retention capacity.
- Azelaic Acid Serums: Penetrate pores to help clear accumulated dirt, oil, and other debris. This prevents pore clogging and promotes a clearer skin appearance.
4. Moisturizing:
- Lightweight Moisturizers: Since porous skin is often oily or combination, lightweight, water-based, and non-comedogenic (non-pore-clogging) moisturizers should be preferred. Keeping the skin hydrated helps regulate sebum balance.
5. Sun Protection:
- Broad-Spectrum Sunscreen: Using a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 every day prevents sun-induced skin damage and keeps pores from becoming more prominent. Choose oil-free and non-comedogenic formulas.
Additional Care:
- Exfoliation (Peeling):
- Chemical Peeling: Peeling products containing AHA (glycolic, lactic acid) and BHA (salicylic acid) gently remove dead skin cells, preventing pore clogging and providing smoother skin. You can use them 1-2 times a week.
Points to Consider:
- Do Not Over-Cleanse Your Skin: Frequent washing or using harsh products can dry out the skin and lead to increased oil production.
- Do Not Squeeze Pimples: This can lead to inflammation and further enlargement of pores.
- Do Not Sleep With Makeup On: Makeup can clog pores and cause skin problems.
- Avoid Comedogenic Ingredients: Ensure that makeup and skincare products do not contain comedogenic (pore-clogging) ingredients.
- Be Patient: Significant improvement in pore appearance can take time. With a consistent and correct skincare routine, you will see a difference over time.
